Welcome to my site. A little about me...
I am first generation American. My parents immigrated from La Paz, Bolivia to Texas in the 70s to pursue college and a better life. Their parents left different parts of Europe, namely Russia, Poland and Germany, to escape World War II, the Holocaust, where my great-grandparents away.
My maternal grandfather fled Poland by himself at the age of eighteen, leaving his parents and nine siblings behind; no one believed him about how bad things were going to get. His family all later died during a progrom in Poland. My grandfather left for France and later to S. America where he eventually settled.
My maternal grandmother fled Germany at the age of 13, by herself, on the Kinder transport, a ship hosted by the Red Cross to save children from the atrocities of war. My grandmother’s parents saw what was coming and knew they needed to send my grandmother away, never to see each other again. My maternal great-grandparents died in Auschwitz.
In London, my grandmother met up with her older sister of 11 years and eventually got wind of opportunity in La Paz, Bolivia where they eventually immigrated.
My maternal grandmother met my maternal grandfather in La Paz, who she referred to as the lid to her kettle. She told me every kettle has a lid and that my grandfather stood out to her because he was the first boy she had met in Bolivia that really ‘listened’ to her.
Similarly, my paternal grandparents paths led them to La Paz, Bolivia, where my biological parents were raised in a small Jewish community amongst a largely native Bolivian culture.
I share this story because it shaped my grandparents and my parents, and in turn who I am in this world in both conscious and unconscious ways that run through my veins, my being, my perception and way of viewing the world. There is so much research and understanding coming to light around epigenetics, and I know that the trauma of my grandparents undoubtedly got passed down to my parents and to myself, as well as the richness of all of who they were and are and what they overcame for me to be here today.
Many indigenous cultures introduce themselves not only by sharing their name, but by sharing the names of their parents as well as the names of their maternal and paternal grandparents. When I learned this, it resonated with me. We really are the unfolding of those who have walked before us. For this introduction, I will not name those before me by name, but want to take a moment to acknowledge and honor all of those that have walked before me, particularly my ancestors and those that brought me to this world. And I invite you to take a moment to do the same.
As you read through my website, you will see that my belief and passion is in us honoring our present and future generations by acknowledging and honoring the ways and wisdom of the past that we have become disconnected from. We are living during such a unique time, with access to so much wisdom and knowledge to pave the way for our healing, and at the same time this access and technology speeding up our world in such a way that our nervous systems can not keep up. The demands of modern living are fostering persistent states of survival and disconnect on so many levels including from ourselves. Many understand now that this is a detriment to both our physical and emotional well-being. And on an even deeper level than many may realize, we have also forgotten who we are at our core.
During those rare moments when you find yourself in nature with no access to wifi, what do you feel, what do you notice? There may be a slowing down that happens, a oneness where the mind becomes an integrated whole, when we are in our bodies and connected to the universal intelligence, a feeling of vitality, connectedness, feeding our spirit with no lapse in time. If you find yourself somewhere truly beautiful and awe-inspiring in nature, you may notice an elevation in mood, a more quiet mind, and you can begin to access states of connectedness where wisdom or messages for your life are available. A wisdom available beyond words, a feeling, truth, messages about life, about your path, about how life should be and used to be, about the potential we have deemed impossible because we have strayed so far - a life of abundance, higher intelligence, clarity, intuition, interwoven with the divine. When we live more attuned with nature, the cycles of life and community, we understand ourselves in a different manner that is more collective and holistic, heart-centered.
It is my deep belief that we are here to heal, to heal the karma (challenges) we all come with, to heal the conditioning from generations past that no longer serves us, to find ways to navigate our brain’s survival mechanisms that both keep us alive and also limit possibility and dis-connects us from our true selves and potential as human consciousness.
I am a trained therapist and through my professional trainings and studies in the therapy world, I see a convergence of therapeutic concepts with alternative and holistic healing concepts. At the core, both paths are about finding ways to feel safe and calm in our bodies, to calm our nervous systems so that we can be more of our true selves and essence, connected to our hearts, our instincts, our intuition and a greater Wisdom. There is a higher intelligence and vibration with all the answers we seek. I am passionate that the more we foster this connection, the greater our vitality and clearer our path becomes. However, it is not an easy path overcoming conditioning. I can be tough, and at times brutal. I believe our challenge is to find ways to foster connection so that it can become stronger and brighter and harder to lose sight of during difficult times, as it grows stronger. This path is largely about slowing down, immersing with nature and tools for calm so that we can REMEMBER, so that we can FEEL, so that we can LISTEN, so that we can HEAL.
I want to share with you the tools I have learned and continue to learn along the way.
Growing up in the 80’s with Jewish immigrant parents, in a Texas community and blended family, allowed me to see many facets and perspectives of life, feeling like both an insider and outsider on so many levels. I believe it is for this reason that I often see things in shades of gray, open-mindedness my Achilles heal. It has been my challenge as well as a gift that allows me to see more than is on the surface, to dig deeper, wanting to understand and find meaning, bringing curiosity to each human being I encounter, understanding that each of us carries a richness and a vastness beyond the conception of our conscious minds.
